Numerical
Aperture (NA)
The
Numerical Aperture of a fiber is defined as the sine of the half-angle
of the light acceptance cone, relative to the fiber axis, in air.
CHI
offers Numerical Apertures which range from 0.1 to 1.0. The values
are determined by the core/cladding glass selection and defined
by the glasses' refractive indices. This dependence is described
by the following relationship,
where
n = refractive index.
