Tolerances

The diameters of etched capillaries and fibers in a close-packed array typically vary by less than 5% from one to another, and by less than 2% along their length. The center-to-center (CTC) spacing is normally better than ± 10%, depending upon the array pattern, size, packing density, and whether the structure is drawn only or drawn and fused.

CHI's standard tolerance on mid-sized parts (3-5 mm diameter) is ± 125µm (0.005"). On smaller parts, and when projects demand tighter tolerances, we can maintain ± 25µm (0.001") or better, and on micro-diameter parts in the 0.1mm range, +/- 1µm is common. Special tolerance requirements are addressed on a case-by-case basis.
